Let’s talk about something that affects every single one of us from time to time – excuses.
Before we do, we want to make one thing clear. Life isn’t always straightforward, and there will always be times when exercise has to take a back seat. Family commitments, work, illness, injuries and holidays are all part of life, and nobody should ever feel guilty for putting those first when they need to.
However, there are also plenty of occasions when the reason we don’t make it to Bootcamp isn’t because we genuinely can’t – it’s because we’ve talked ourselves out of coming. We’ve all been there. After a long day, the sofa looks more appealing, it’s too hot, it’s raining, or you’re simply feeling tired and promise yourself you’ll come next time instead.
The problem is that excuses can quickly become a habit. Missing one session isn’t the end of the world, but when one missed workout turns into several, it’s surprisingly easy to lose the routine that was making you feel healthier, stronger and happier.
One thing we’ve learnt over the years is that nobody ever leaves a Bootcamp session wishing they’d stayed at home. In fact, it’s usually the opposite. Members often arrive feeling tired, stressed or unmotivated, but they leave feeling energised, more positive and proud that they made themselves come.
That’s why we’re so passionate about what we do. As coaches, we care about your results, but more importantly, we care about you. We know that regular exercise does so much more than improve your fitness – it boosts confidence, increases energy, reduces stress and helps you feel your best.
As we head into the summer holidays, routines will naturally change, and we hope you enjoy every minute of your time away. But when you’re home, try not to let your routine disappear completely. Even making one or two sessions each week will help you stay consistent and make returning to your normal routine in September so much easier.
The hardest part is almost always getting yourself to the session. Once you’re there, we’ll do everything we can to motivate you, support you and make sure you leave feeling glad you came.
So here’s our challenge to you this summer: keep making your health a priority, keep turning up when you can, and don’t let excuses get in the way of the progress you’ve worked so hard to achieve. We’ll be here all summer, ready to cheer you on every step of the way.
